We were all quite excited to visit the Disney XD studios. It was very interesting to see how dynamic the production pipelines for television animation are. We were welcomed by Beau Demayo, who was our tour guide. We then had a Q&A session with Jay Francis, Director of Original Programming at Disney Channel.
We saw some of the production work for shows like Phineas and Ferb (I?m a huge fan, so this was a great highlight for me) and Kickbuttowski.

After the studio tour, we had the opportunity to check out pilot episodes for some of their new upcoming shows: Tron: Uprising, Gravity Falls, and Motor City. They were all AMAZING: beautifully animated, had awesome art, and told great stories. Can?t wait until they come out (and come to Canada)!
Later that evening, Ron Diamond from Acme Filmworks (organizer of the Animation Show of Shows) invited us over to his home to volunteer at a party. This party was organized by Ron to honor the nominees for best animated short at the Academy Awards. All sorts of artists, animators, and other great people in the film industry were invited as well. A bunch of us decided to volunteer, and had a blast getting to know other animators. We had the honor of meeting some of the nominees, and some of our favorite artists. To name a few: Amanda Forbes and Wendy Tilby, William Joyce, Brandon Oldenburg, Patrick Doyon, Grant Orchard, as well as Steven Burgess from Dreamworks and Brooke Keesling from Cartoon Network. Ron was incredibly generous to welcome us in his home, and we had a blast at the party.
Meeting Amanda Forbes and Wendy Tilby was a great honor! They were very sweet and excited to see so many Emily Carr students.
